I am a bit of a social media addict, there I’ve said it. I love Twitter, Instagram and Google + but I’m afraid to say I have fallen out of love with Facebook of the past few months. There is one site that I find is very addictive yet equally rewarding and that is Pinterest.
Now if you are not using Pinterest , where have you been and what have you been doing? I wrote a post on Business Amongst Mums last September explaining what had been working for me. Back then I had 406 followers which I had managed to double in a few months, now 9 months on and I am just under the 2000 followers mark.
So how have I done it?
In my last post I explained how I used the boards and I haven’t really changed anything from that. I usually pin all my posts to the blog board they have been posted on and then every few days decant down the posts onto small more niche boards. I find people tend to follow the smaller boards as opposed to my main blog boards as people are usually looking for particular pins rather than a wide range of pins. I have also created lots of different boards that I am interested in and are popular with other bloggers too.
Another great way to get more people to follow is to comment on pins. Now I don’t do this as much as I should but I have found when I have people to tend reciprocate the interaction.
Group boards are another great way of gaining new followers and increasing traffic to your site. Tutorials, crafts and recipes are the pins I find get the most interest, so if you blog about any of these areas then Pinterest will really help with traffic to your site.
I also make time each evening to go and pin other pins to my boards and find that this is a great time to find pins and have other people find mine. It only needs to be 10 minutes each night and you’ll see a big difference.
