It’s the weekend, a time to rest and regroup ready for the week ahead.
In our house, the football season has finally concluded, 3rd place and another promotion was good going considering the ups and downs the team endured this season. More drama in teenage boys football than in the Premier League!
With more time on my hands over the weekends for the next few months, I have my sights set on decluttering our little home, something that has been on the agenda for a very long time. Now I am never going to have a minimalist home, not with 5 of us in the house, but order and organisation are areas that I am currently lacking and are desperately needed. Especially with the killer academic year we have a head of us after September.
With this in mind, I have found these great inspirational posts to get me in the mood.
Part of my strategy is to take baby steps, small manageable tasks that will over time help with removing much of the stuff we are hanging onto but don’t really need. Joshua Becker shared some quick tips over on Mind Body Green, some I am going to be starting this week.
Once I have started with the baby steps, I want to devote a weekend to making a dent in the decluttering. Ruth at Living Well Spending Less has just published a new book, spoiler alert its my choice for next month’s #theyearinbooks, Unstuffed. On her site she has shared some of the books content, including the weekend purge.
Finally, once I have decluttered, I am going to make a conscious effort to buy less and mend more, especially after reading this post from Jen over at My Make Do and Mend Life.
