You may or may not know that today is Earth Day. Celebrated on the 22nd of April every year. Each year there is a different theme. This year it is dedicated to providing information and inspiration to eventually end plastic pollution, according to Earth Day Network.
Here are some of my favorite earth day posts from the past week, along with some plastic reducing themed ones too.
Rivers of Plastic
Plastic pollution is always in the media, especially over the past few months. Many of the stories have been to do with its impact on the sealife highlighted in the recent Blue Planet programs. Jennifer at Eco Warrior Princess explains how most of the plastic in our seas can be linked back to just 10 rivers. This is very scary.
Through seeing how damaging using plastic is to our environment I have been searching for alternatives. Packing the kids up each day usually includes some type of plastic wrapping. I have been looking for alternatives and low and behold there is. Micaela at Mindful Momma shares a whole range of products, even ideas for food storage in the home as well as on the go.
Make and Do
If you are looking for ways to encourage your children to celebrate earth day, there are lots of ways to get them involved. Erin at Reading My Tea Leaves shares some of the activities her and her two children are doing to celebrate this important day. My favorite is the flower press, I used to love doing these when I was little.
Happy Earth Day, what are you doing to celebrate?
