    Lake Life

Last week saw us pack the car up and head off to the Lake District for a well earned week away from the hustle and bustle that is our lives. Normally when we go away we tend to head down south to the coast in Devon or Cornwall but I wanted to explore somewhere new, somewhere we’d never been, somewhere we could have a real adventure out in the wilds of the UK. We chose well. I really think the fact that we chose to visit the Lake District during the autumn really added to the whole experience, the colours were vibrant, the weather was perfect for walking and…

    Recipe: Quick summer chicken pasta

Even with the Summer holidays just around the corner, these last few weeks beforehand can be jam-packed with school activities and parents trying to get things done before having to entertain the children for six weeks. Here is a great quick and super easy pasta dish I tried from The Pioneer Woman after seeing it on the Food Network. I have adapted only slightly, changing a few ingredients from the original. The whole family really enjoyed this dish and I will definitely be making it again for us. It really does taste like Summer in a bowl! [yumprint-recipe id=’12’]

Easter is such a great time to relax and enjoy quality time with family. Our lives seem to be so full of appointments, activities and mundane day to day jobs that although we do spend time all together, I don’t really class it as quality time. Children grow up so fast that I already feel I have missed out on parts thanks to working, stressing and general life but I have found myself being mindful of the time I spend with then. Finding time to spend individual quality time with each of them is difficult but we do try. Having such a large age gap between my eldest and the…

    Woodland Wander

I love nature. I feel at home wandering amongst the trees and brambles, playing hide and seek with the children and watching them explore and extend their imagination in this natural playground.   I find myself smiling the whole time I am out and about in our beautiful green world, appreciating the intricate details that many people over look and take for granted. During half term, we took a trip to Swithland Woods and spent a couple of hours exploring a part of the woods we never usual walk through. We have been to this wood many times and yet we can still find areas that we’ve never walked in.…

    A family trip to France

France is a great destination for any kind of family. Whatever interests you have as individuals or as a collective, you’ll find ways to match those interests on a holiday in France. And as it’s only a short ferry crossing on the other side of the Channel – and even quicker with a Chunnel crossing – you can go for just a few days if that’s all the time you have available. The great outdoors and sport If your family loves camping, there’s no better place to go than France. As well as all the private campsites in touristy areas that have amazing facilities for sports, great swimming pools and…

    My word for 2014

Well that’s it for 2013, it has been a year full of surprises, both good and bad and if I am completely honest, I am glad to be entering into a new year with its fresh starts and new beginnings. Last year I wanted to write a post and choose my word for the year but for some reason I didn’t. I think it may have been because I was unsure of where I was going both in life and with my blogging. This past year has been a real learning curve. I lost a big client at the beginning of the year and gained another which opened many doors…
