Searching for my special place

You know what I would really love, I’d love a little place of my own where I could sneak off, lock the door and immerse myself in writing, thinking and reading. My own little place that no-one but me goes and I can explore my creativity.

I have a dream of finding the perfect place to write, no interruptions, no children banging on the door wanting something to eat or drink and no husband asking me to find things and no dog hassling me to go for a walk.

In our house, the only place I have to write is the lounge or at my desk in our bedroom, both places I end up being tracked down and nagged until I get up and meet whatever demand is being shouted at me. So I have been looking for somewhere else I can write.

I thought of finding a nice little cafe but I find I get too distracted with people watching and noise, libraries are great but are quite sterile environments that don’t evoke my senses to add to my writing. Then I had an idea. What about a writing shed?

We have some space out in the garden that would fit a nice sized garden shed and if money were no object, I’d definitely have one a cabins, hooked up with electric and internet. Looking out over the fields we are surrounded by, I know this would be writing heaven for me.

Do you ever dream of having your own little piece of heaven?
