Procrastinating means a clean home

You may or may not know that I am currently studying for a degree in Journalism and Creative Writing at De Montfort University in Leicester.  I have found a great side-effect of studying a  degree as a mature student, your house becomes cleaner than ever before!

I am not a house-proud person, no chance with 5 of us living in a 2 bedroom house along with a bird and a dog but since I started the course, every time I have a piece of homework or an assignment due in, I find I need to clean.

Obviously, I do get the work done but only after I have cleaned up first. This week has seen me rearrange the living room, half declutter the kid’s bedroom, reorganise my desk and sorted through a huge pile of washing and ironing. This is with a 500-word short story to write, a 1,500-word assignment on reading like a writer and much more!

I love this new side-effect of studying and I have for a long time been wanting to get organised and on top of our home and finally, I am. Another area that I want to master is a planner. I have tried in the past but never seem to find one that works, but I think I have found a solution.

I have always been a stationery addict, but the bug seems to have hit even harder since the New Year and I have bought lots of stationary goodies which I will share on here soon. I have also brought a new A5 Filofax Clickbook which I am hoping to customise and turn into a family planner. More on this soon.

I’d love to know if anyone else  studying has found it has strange side-effects such as a tidy house like mine (well for now!)
