It’s ironic that on the fifteenth anniversary of us living in our country home I decided to start a new blog dedicated to my true love, the countryside.
I’ve been blogging for nearly 5 years, in many guises, but never felt truly passionate about what I’ve been writing about.
I started off as a “mummy blogger” when everyone else seemed to have caught the bug. I’ve also been a business blogger, beauty blogger and a ghost blogger; doing what was necessary to bring in some extra money and try to fulfil my desire to write.
I have enjoyed all of these roles and learnt along the way as well as making great friends too but I’ve always felt there was something missing.
I was never really happy with the direction these blogs and roles were travelling. I wanted to be like the rest of the bloggers who were ranking high in the charts, getting free holidays, highly paid sponsored posts and cool new gadgets to try out. I tried to imitate my favourite blogs, writing posts like I was writing in a magazine or covering subjects that I had no interest in.
To cut a long story short, I had lost sight of the reasons I wanted to start blogging in the first place, to find my voice and improve my writing skills. I wasn’t being authentic, I wasn’t being true to me or my family. I allowed insecurities and jealousy to cloud my plans and lead me off course.
Today, this will stop.
Today is a new beginning, on a blog where I promise you, dear reader, that nothing will get in my way of being authentic, warts and all.
I do hope you’ll follow me here, to share in our little world and discover what living in the countryside in Middle Earth (or Leicestershire as it is normally known) and the surrounding areas has to offer.
