Starting this blog last December, my aim was to document and discuss how we can all live a slower paced life. To share our triumphs and failures, things I’d found along the way as well as my own ideas, yet somehow, I seem to have gotten lost along the way.
Life, as usual, has been too busy, even though I have tried to be intentional and slow things down. With the end of my studies, I thought things would improve but these last couple of months of the school year are always jam-packed, full of sporting and academic activities, parental involvement and lots of travelling.
Add to this mix work, both from home and outside, it really leaves very little time to do anything else, which was the plan for 2016.
Reassessing at the mid-point of the year really helps to see where things are going and what needs to change. Although many of the things, such as work, are non-negotiable when it comes to reducing or removing, there are still some things that I can do to improve.
Organisation is the main area I struggle with. A lot of this is down to the time factor, which is a vicious circle. If I was more organised I’d have more time, but I need more time to get organised.
I’ve started to declutter, a cupboard that we seem to stuff all sorts in, yet rarely ever go back into. The kid’s room is in need of an overhaul, storage buying and a ruthless sort out of toys no longer played with and clothes no longer worn. This is on the agenda for next week so keep an eye out for an update on this.
I’m going to be reviewing some different methods of organisation, sharing with you what I find works for us and other alternatives you might find helpful to you. I have a couple of books to read on the subject, hopefully, these will make it on here too.
As much as this is a learning journey for us as a family, I want to help you too. I’d love to know what areas in your life you are struggling to find balance, where you’d like help to slow down and live a more intentional life. If there is anything you’d like to know or see, please get in touch.
