2016: The year of intentional living

As we enter the last few days of 2015, I have taken time out to reflect on the events and actions we as a family and I myself have taken over this time. I decided this time last year not to set myself any goals or intentions as I felt I wanted a year without direction and drive, to see what would happen.

It really opened my eyes.

It felt liberating at the time, not to have anything to achieve, a year of doing whatever we felt like at that moment.

Yet I also felt as though I was drifting rudderless throughout the year, having nothing to achieve seemed to lead to little ambition to do anything.

So for 2016, I have decided that rather than setting goals, I am going to set ourselves intentions, both family ones and personal ones.

My personal intentions are:

1. Take time out to do something that makes me smile at least once each day.

2. Join in with Circle of Pine Trees reading challenge.3. Be more organised in our home and with my studies.

4. Journal daily.

5. Spend quality time with each family member individually.

6. Spend less time online.

7. De-clutter half of our possessions.

8. Cook more meals from scratch.

9. Do one thing each month that is outside my comfort zone.

10. Exercise at least 3 times a week.

I have created an intentions page within my planner so that I can track our progress as setting intentions without being able to follow our achievements is pointless and I know I’d fail within the first month. I hope to share this and my other organisational tools in the coming months.

Would love to hear some of your intentions for the coming year in the comments below.
